End-of-service award under the Saudi Labor Law, Articles 84-85
Under Article 84 of the Saudi Labor Law, the end-of-service award is half a month's wage for each of the first five years of service and one full month's wage for each year beyond five, on your last wage. If you resign, Article 85 scales the award by length of service: nothing under 2 years, one third for 2 to 5 years, two thirds for 5 to 10 years, and the full amount at 10 years or more.

Frequently asked questions
How is the end-of-service award calculated in Saudi Arabia?
Half a month's wage for each of the first five years of service, then one full month's wage for each year beyond five, based on your last wage. Partial years are paid in proportion to the time served.
Does resignation reduce my end-of-service award?
Yes, under Article 85. You receive nothing if you resign with under two years of service, one third of the award for two to five years, two thirds for five to ten years, and the full award at ten years or more. Employer termination and contract expiry always pay the full award.
Is the award based on basic salary or total wage?
On your last wage, which under Article 2 means basic pay plus regular allowances (such as housing and transport) and commissions, unless your contract excludes variable pay in writing under Article 86. Calculators that use basic salary only understate the award.
Is GOSI part of the end-of-service award?
No. GOSI (the General Organization for Social Insurance) funds pensions and unemployment support and is separate. The Article 84 award is the employer's own obligation, paid on top of any GOSI entitlement.
Did the 2025 labour-law changes affect the award?
No. The 2024-25 amendments did not change the end-of-service formula, the wage basis, or the Article 85 resignation fractions.

This tool estimates the Article 84-85 end-of-service award on your last wage. GOSI (social insurance) is separate and not part of this award. Your contract and final settlement may differ. This is not legal advice.
